The Roadkill Cook-off is a part of the states Autumn Harvest Festival. Cook-off entries are not literally off the road snacks, but can be anything usually found by the side of the road such as squirrel, deer or perhaps snake. The cook-off judges would prefer it if the entries were not. How would they know? The event is apparently the first 'legal' roadkill contest of its kind.

The naming of individual dishes is a very important part of the competition and the more imaginative the better. Past entries have included 'marinated moose in a crushed nut sauce' and 'possum wrapped in tarmac' or even 'roadside ravioli for the more cosmopolitan diner.
